8 Massachusetts Companies Named to Fierce 15
Eight of the companies named to this year’s Fierce 15 list are based in Massachusetts, another harbinger of the biotech industry’s strength in the Commonwealth.
FierceBiotech, the biotech industry’s daily monitor, announced the 2012 Fierce 15 winners at BioPharm America™, which opened this morning at the Westin Boston Waterfront. The Fierce 15 is the hotly anticipated annual award that recognizes the 15 most promising private biotech companies in the world. The Fierce 15 celebrates the spirit of being “fierce,” championing innovation and creativity, even in the face of intense competition.
“We are thrilled that, for two years running, Massachusetts-based companies make up the majority of the Fierce 15 list,” said Robert K. Coughlin, President and CEO of MassBio, which represents more than 600 biotech companies and other industry organizations. “These companies represent the next generation of our industry—and are true examples of the Commonwealth’s position as a research and development hub. We congratulate this year’s winners and look forward to their continued success.”
