Careers: Top Job Postings
In our 2012 Industry Snapshot, we discovered that Massachusetts jobs in biotechnology research and development grew faster than in any other state in the nation. Additionally the number of job postings on MassBio.org has increased since the economic downturn of 2009, potentially indicating accelerating job growth into 2012 and beyond.
Though the rate of biopharma job growth has slowed since the recession hit in 2009, the industry is still growing at a faster rate than the Massachusetts economy as a whole.
The Commonwealth was able to outpace any other state in biotechnology research job growth from 2007-2011, leading the nation with over 28,000 R&D positions in 2011.
Top 10 Job Postings
When looking on MassBio.org’s job board, the number of Research positions was surpassed only by Quality Assurance. Manufacturing took third place, up from seventh in 2008, showing a possible rebound from recent declines.
All jobs on MassBio.org are categorized into eight major categories. Among these, “Quality” positions, including Quality Assurance and Quality Control job listings increased by the greatest percentage between 2010 and 2011.
